use a desk lamp ....it only needs light to know which side to grow up on....only expose it to light though when you're casing (after birth)...... not while its colonizing or else it will start growin everywhere the light goes through the bag makin your yields drastically smaller....

yes staments states that teh violet/blue spectrum is the effective source of light for cubies but a blacklight will not emit any more amount of light than a regular fluoro of the same size and wattage. both will work tho.
on a side note exposure to light is what triggers the mycellium to pin. if you expose to light in the jar; it will start to pin and if youre going to case them you need to scrape off the pins to crumble it so this is counterproductive; even if the pins arent formed yet the chemical change is still initiated.
i never expose a colonizing or colonized jar to light other than to look at them.
EDIT
just reread it and see youre using teh bags; an dthat i was completely off topic; i apologize.
yes any form of light will work and you should initiate pinning now. but if you have some duct tape i would suggest wrapping teh bottom and sides with duct tape (2 or 3 layers) so pins dont start on teh bottom or sides; that is a common drawback of the bags because theyre clear even on the bottom.

Holy shit people; COMMON SENSE! we were all born with it where did it go?
maybe theres a tek out there to explain how to use it!

Sorry for the dumb question, but does the duct tape meathod also apply to caking in a jar?? from what I've seen you would want them to pin on the side.
