Since when does what is profitable trump what is right/humane/ethical?
Honestly the best thing to do in a system that is corrupt is to use it to your advantage, until you have the power to change it. If you can, get the prescription, then sell them, make the profit and build your own empire. Don't fight without a weapon. These companies know exactly what they are doing, enslaving people. And you can either fight without power, or gain power through them and then use the power later to fight them or to your own end. Your decision.

And when you run out of opium and you start getting sick, you're gonna wish you had some hash to ease it off.
I won't be getting sick. I only use opiates once a year, theres no tolerance whatsoever. Wanna join me, and only smoke weed once a year?
Its not addictive right?
It's not addictive in the sense it can be used temporarily and suddenly discontinued and cause virtually no withdrawal. However I've met some pretty fucked up potheads who couldn't stop using, weed is a PSYCHOLOGICAL addiction Opiates are a PHYSICAL addiction. It's not even an intense psychological addiction, a few applications of cocaine can start unwiring the reward pathway and cause much more severe mental addiction. Basically to get to the same addictive potential one would have to smoke it literally all the time.

My question is how does the doctor know whats the best treatment? He follows limited ways of reliving pain, the government says you may only prescribe "this" and that". Instead of getting patient feedback about whats most effective they just listen to your bullshit "moderate pain" "headache" "insert type of pain here" oh here take an oxycodone to fix that right up. I also know she didn't need them because the doctor said theres no broken bones and it's just a scrape. Fully knowing it was very minor he gave her an Opiate. I am not an eavesdropper I cannot help what I overhear :P. She continued crying and he kept telling her family it's all psychological.
Doctors do have quite a firm understanding of pain, there is a fantastic textbook on the subject called ,"the textbook of pain" which is absolutely humongous, from which medical students and doctors have to study from. They generally try to fit treatment as closely to guide lines as possible.
A scrape might not be as bad as a broken bone but it will usually expose noci receptors (the pain receptors), more than unbroken skin, which makes the damage very sensitive and uncomfortable. I would have thought a topical anaesthetic would have been used, maybe it was to keep her calm at the same time as being a pain suppressant.

I'm amused. So wait an opiate addict can doctor shop, and bitch and whine until they get their oxycodone, but Marijuana is a "killer" drug.

It seems just by reading the story you came up with a more reasonable solution to the pain. I wish that had occurred to the doctor who was probably just focused on knocking her out. Since when does a minor scrape justify being that heavily medicated?

I'm not saying that What I'm saying is that a lot of people who apply for medical marijuana are just potheads faking symptoms to get at the medical weed, abusing the medical system to get their high.
Sure there is a lot of opiate abuse also, but most opiate prescriptions start out on the doctors initiative, while lots of pot people walk in the doctors office wanting pot and nothing other than pot for their condition. Sounds familiar?
The general way of doing things is that you approach a doctor with your symptoms and he examines and sets out the treatment plan and which drugs to take.
Even though your depressions may be very real.. you did go there to get weed and nothing but weed for it.
Give St John's Wort a shot. its a herbal thats quite effective against mild to moderate depressions. In many cases it is better than pharms or pot. You can score it in health food stores, often at low prices if you shop around. Take 1-3 pills or capsules a day, every day. Improvement will take several weeks to complete, like with prozac. In most people there are virtually no side effects.

I've tried Prozac and praxil, I quit using weed and I seriously gave those a shot for MONTHS. The reason I choose pot over any anti depressants is because it does the same thing without making me go manic. I agree the hardcore stoner is the one who kills it for everyone, but there are so many people who use it just to function and go to work and school. I've already decided the benefits outweigh the "side effects", for most people anti depressants probably work but they make me go crazy.

What I'm saying is it works for me. I've tried the pharmaceuticals and they were too causing too many problems to continue using them. I told that doctor myself I'm not gonna stop smoking weed and go back on those medications, whether he gives me a prescription or not. I'd rather have my money going towards the government then to street dealers selling shitty quality weed for high prices.
