Molds won't stop destroying my cakes/casing!?!
    #8530352 - 06/16/08 03:23 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

Ever since I've moved into my new basement apartment, I've had mold contam every area I've attempted.  Ive tried my closet (in my room), the hallway, and another closet.  I even had a ion filter which kills mold spores running 24/7 in the latest grow.  I'm constantly doing FAE at least 5 times a day, and also have an air bubbler from a fish tank pumping air right above the perlite!  I thought this would provide enough fresh air for the myc to fight off any contam.

I've seen trich, and cobweb molds growing on my shit. And its ruined 4 separate grows!  I waited a full week after full colonization of all my BRF jars, yet its still contam after spending a week and a half in the FC.

Right now I have a dozen half pints waiting about one more week until I can start them.

How can I stop this mold from fucking my shit up?  I've read its impossible to remove mold from a house as old as mine. (101 yrs. old)

HELP ME!!!!

open your windows for fresh air, open the blinds let the sun in, and spray the fuck out of everything with bleach solution and lysoll/glenn20, I find if I open the windows of my house once a day and let the sun shine through I have 0 problems.

try ordering sterile syringes on the internet that way you don't have to worry about the contamination of your print

I was unaware you were a moderator. O wait, you aren't.

Besides the unnecessary remark, thanks for the tips with open windows and sun in. sounds like that should help me as well.

I just ordered 4 new syringes from the mail as well, and am going to build a glovebox for inoculation, since that must've been my problem all along.

I think basements are prone to high humidity and thus mold.

Depending on how all-out you want to get, there are antifungal and antibacterial paints you can put on the walls as well as grow lights.

You could spray the walls themselves with a bleach solution and then prime them?

Mold will grow in carpet if you have any.  Get the carpets steam-shampooed with an anti-fungal solution, maybe, and paint the the walls with Kilz and spray the bejesus out of the room with Lysol and Oust?

If your room air is contaminated, then fanning your FC with contaminated air may not cure your troubles, to take a guess.

There are also O-Zone lights?  Would any of that work for you?

That "unnecessary remark" will help keep you from eventually being spanked by a MOD.  There was nothing malicious in that remark.  Play nice!:peace:

This right here proves its not the spores. If you can get 100% non contamed cakes, thats not a spore problem.
