Also, if this is a contam, could it spread to other cakes in my terrium. If so, what should I do to try and save this cake and prevent others from contamination?

I had the same problem with my jars - I made a very wet, sticky, substrate, and when I flipped them - a lot of my substrate stuck to the bottom of the jar. About your situation though - does the cake smell at all?
If you're worried about contamination - I would suggest making a small 'sickbay' for the cake - and keeping it away from your others. Here you can let it grow without worry of infecting your other cakes - to be on the safe side - you could brand the area on that cake that looks dark - get a nail red hot - and touch it to those areas that look suspect.

no, my friend smelled it as soon as we took it out of the jar, and he said it smelt mushroomy, just like the others. I have him in a separate container with one other cake right now, I'll let ya know how it goes.
