ok i read this somewhere on the site and was just wondering one thing...
well anyway, if you put jars in a small rubbermaid box (maybe cover up with old shirts) and set on top of a computer monitor...is this a good idea for faster colonization? the jars get pretty warm.
i was thinking maybe it would get too hot...any comments?

I would not set anything on or near any air vents on your monitor. Your monitor displaces heat through vents on the top and sides usually which if blocked might damage the monitor or cause a fire.

The best incubation tek is using 2 rubbermaid containers. Put a 300W aquarium heater in the bottom of one. Fill with water and Peroxide until the heater is completely submerged. Set heater at 82, put the other container in side it so it is floating on the water. Buy a digital Therm. and keep track of the temp. This is the easiest and best way for consistant incubation. Also can use same tek for grow chamber. Just cut a hole in the top to let light in, cover with plexi-glass.
Also the shroomery FAQ would have other articles on this subject!
Good Luck!

Hypothetically speaking, if anyone where to break the law wouldn't it be better not leave anything illegal in plain sight. Just my $0.02 wotrth of paranoia.
If an officer of the law is in your house for any other reason and he sees illegal activity he can bust you for it.

I just set up my incubator the other day. Real simple: I got a metal baking pan at Goodwill for a buck. Then i got a 100watt aquarium heater for 10 bucks. Bought a bottle of Snapple, emptied it, and wrapped it in electrical tape (to block light from heater). Then i filled the bottle with water and a little hydrogen peroxide and put the heater in it. Then i put the bottle with th eheater in the metal pan and loaded in the substrate jars (making sure they were at least an inch away from the bottle cause it gets hot!) and filled the pan to the top with water and a few splashes of hydrogen peroxide. This has been very easy to regulate. You need a thermometer of course. And it is working GREAT!

the dog used a big gallon pickle jar ( seems to me surface area would come into play) and a fishtank heater w/ a thermostat. But his step mom cut a plug out of a styrofom cooler top that allowed for the heater...
it has a thermostat so you control the temp... w/ peroxide in the water i dont think the tape around the bottle serves much purpose, sheep have had the same water in thir incubators for months w/o problems but as i tpye this i contemplate the use of a cattle prod to make them change the water.
ZAP!!
-------------------- of course this is all a dream and none of what i am saying is factual.
