So I got the idea to make some french fries. I fired up the ole deep fryer, and chilled reading a book waiting for it to heat up.
I went into the kitchen, opened the cabinet under my sink where I keep my potatoes and grab the bag. I see some white mold on one of the potatoes and go, oh gross. So I pull the bag out, getting ready to pick out the moldy potato and maybe rinse off the ones nearby it. As soon as it's out of the door it starts oozing this slime all over the floor. I live in a ghetto old place with a carpeted kitchen....
Wow, the smell is oppressive.  I put some soap on the slime and sprayed it with water...now I guess I've gotta go scrub it out...

i remember visiting my cousins apartment, she left a small bowl a fruit on top of the fridge, and forgot about...

It's weird, too...they couldn't have been more than a month old, and potatoes usually keep for a long time.
There go my french fries.
Needless to say I threw away the whole bag.

on a side note I lived in a place once and before we moved in they had a carpted bathroom. I'm not perfect, and miss sometimes. I am sure others do too, so I made them take that shit out before I moved in. A few months later I was talking to a neighbor who had been there for a long time. He said a few units had carpted kitchens too. I agree, thats insane.
All my fixtures at the time were harvest gold? how about yours?

I think if you ever have potatoes turn into a sort of slime... you don't have enough potatoes in your diet.
They should never linger around so long that they actually start to rot and ooze... such neglect of the taters, it'd make an Irish mother cry.

Really, though, they weren't that old. I was out of town for about a week...and I think I bought them about a week before that, so I'd guess they were maybe 3 weeks old tops.
I usually eat lots of potatoes, but that was fucking GROSS.
