found some morels again this weekend, not a lot but a decent amount, around 3/4 gallon...
went up scouting out some new hunting grounds and got into em pretty good for a little while around 3600'. they were super fresh up that high, just coming up and hard as rocks . perfect. they were also still fruiting around the rivers down lower (2600ish) and I even pulled a few fresh ones at homebase down around 2400'. also found a few nice spring king boletes just barely popping up at 2400' or so on the way home, first time I've seen them in a few years... hit up a spot way up at 4800' on a south facing slope and it was still early there, but all the snow was gone and I think it'll be popping this week... several places further west around 3000' are still under snow .
rained pretty much all day friday, east of the crest, then off and on showers the next couple days. so the east slopes got a very nice soaking this weekend, next is looking promising if some more warm weather follows that... here are some pictures I took, a lot of landscape shots and stuff, cause it's awesome up there right now, and you can only take so many pictures of single mushrooms or small groups of them, sacrilege, I know

 spring kings (Boletus pinophilus)
some burly Gyromitra gigas/korfii were popping up after the rain...
 lbms
these dung lovers under a cottonwood caught my eye (Bolbitius?), got down to take the pic, afterwards looked over to one side and saw a morel, then looked to the other and saw some more , damn sneaky things.
this little dude hung out for a while and watched while I picked a little patch of morels just a few feet away . also saw lots of deer, a few elk, some coyotes, a wild turkey and an osprey, but either didn't have the camera or wasn't fast enough.
 a lupine catching some rain
arrowleaf balsamroot (the yellow flowers) is in full swing, whole hillsides are covered with the stuff, perty

I came across a good amount of morels, elephant ears, and some fat Gyromitra up Blewett Pass this morning. They are popping up like wild fire. Picked around 8lbs. in a few outings.

bump
went hunting again
things seem kind of slow in the central WA cascades, at least for me. ran into a few other hunters who said the same. not sure why, ground is definitely wet from rains last week and more fell yesterday. Just still hasn't gotten warm enough long enough up there is my guess. checked out some very nice looking terrain, but still had to cover a whole lotta ground for what I found. picked more than last week, probably around a gallon all cut and cleaned, but I expected them to be fruiting better. spots that are usually done and dried up by this time of year still have patches of snow all over the place, not sure how/if the season will pan out in those places. 4800' spots only had a few, some others at 4400' and 4000ish had more but still didn't find a lot in any one place. Hopefully it picks up some more before summer temps get here and put an end to things...

 oysters
 yellow cortinarius (?)
 LBM (inocybe?)
Calypso orchids, found a little valley with more of these than I've ever seen in one spot before, pretty cool
finders keepers , must've been out there all winter
   random scenery shots, panorama practice
this basalt formation reminded me of morels at the time, maybe I had just been hunting too long

Morel dreams...
The "Inocybe" looks like Mycena. Cortinarius sounds good.

hunting was pretty good this weekend. not that great compared to a real good year, but probably 4 pounds or so in few hours, best fruiting I've seen so far this year. been picking steadily all season so I think I'm about morel'd out anyway though . cold weather last week kept the bugs from having a feast, but many of the morels were black and frost bitten on the tops and ridges. new ones were coming up in the same places as last week, but it looks like it'll be warming up now. not sure how much higher they'll go...

morel in an old elk track. saw a pretty big herd, but I was on the road with a car behind me. couldn't get a shot. didn't see any bulls in there, but a few nice buck deer were sighted elsewhere. I just have a hard time taking pictures of stuff that moves
 morels, moss and gyromitras
 discina perlata
 yellow coral
lbms from a burnsite, whitish ones have black spores, fragile, thinking psathyrella, but it doesn't really matter
dunno...thinking Tricholoma saponaceum, anyone have a yay, nay or better guess? yellowish gills, cracked cap, rooting stem base, (probably) white spores, terrestrial under conifers. didn't have a chance to check the color of the tissue at the stem base . smelled good to me, heh.
dunno, quite a few out though, colorful
