Use them. They don't store worth a shit. Hit them with some peroxide and use them. You have a few days at most before they run out of food. You can try adding more honey to prolong it but I haven't had much luck doing that.------------------

3Mshroom i don't want to flame you but....your wrong...
I had succesfully used a honey water jar for more than 1 month....
Simply put the jar in the fridge 2-3 days after you see signs of growth..in this way the mycelium grows very slow and last longer....

I tryed it and I"m not seeing shit in my honey water. Its been 5 days. Wonder what i did wrong. Its not that hard, surely I didn't fuck up. Any tips Club?

well,
let the shit fly.
club is wrong.
3m is right.
i've done plenty of honey jars, i am the one who perfected club's accidental use of honey into a workable tek and promoted it at ADM, DroolDonkey and now, here.
refridgerating them will help but they will die when the sugar is used.
but just take a syringe full and inject that into a new jar to continue the cycle.
for best results, use larger jars, they last longer.
also, drain off most of the water before filling syringes. ------------------

Ok...starts that flame....
The honey water last much longer than hippie3 and 3Mshroom says.....
Personally i have used a single jar of honey water for more than one month...without adding more honey nor anything else...so how can you say that i'm wrong hippie3????
Maybe you must experiment a bit more before spreading "your"!?!?!? tek..... and saying what isn't true....
Also how can you say "club's accidental use of honey "????
So explain us your reason to using honey hippie!!

Nutrient deprivation is a storage technique.The agaricus industry can even store agar wedges in pure H2O for years on end. What the ability of cubies is i don't know, I'd start experimenting but 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 years are a lot of time to work with culture revival tests

ahh damn-look what i started.well after posting this i went home to check and 2 outta 3 were looking kinda sick.but the third one...ohhhhhhh the third one.i swear to god that the outline of a mushroom cap is forming,sure as the world.it looks like a clear,colorless jellyfish in the shape of a mushroom.no bullshittin here,i got 3 other opinions and one of them was profesional.all agreed.fuk i wish i had a digital camera....i'll see if my digitally inclined buddy will come over and take a pic.guys,i swear it's one of the coolest things(shroom related)i have ever seen.

I don't want to get messed up in a flame war here but when I have tried storing the honey water I have problems with using anything older then 2 weeks old. Maybe it is something in my tek that is flawed but I have seen definate declines in return after this point in time and an increase in contams.------------------

the root of the difference lies in the fact that cluB says to put it in the fridge as soon as the spores sprout.
now, while that will surely maximize the time the mycellia can survive in the jar,
it does not lead to massive amounts of mycellia forming for inoculant use.
but if you let it grow until there's a big colony, most of the sugar is already gone and refridgeration will only save it a week or two more.
btw, the reason i said 'accidental', cluB, was because i read your initial post way back last november (i think) and youn said that the reason you used honey was because you live in europe and could not find dextrose.
not exactly a stroke of genius,
just dumb luck. ------------------

you did not pirfect it.
it is not your tek.
both of you have good points, but neither is completely correct.
mycelium will continue growth untill its out of nutrients, but it can remain viable for a while after, the problem with TIME is that contams, especially bacteria, take TIME to contam.. if you are not COMPLETELY sterile, you will have a limited time for your water, but if you are it will last longer.
the cold slows down myc growth, but it doesnt stop it.. but cold slows down contam growth too...how much depends on the contam.
its all relative..

what about freezing the jars?would that work?also-after reading you guys'posts i decided to suck up the mushroom shaped myc. into a big-ass syringe.sorry-no chance for a pic(unless it reforms in the syringe)
