converting ISO image files
    #8523386 - 06/14/08 12:37 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

i downloaded rosetta stone language software from bitorrent.(first time ever using it by the way).  it says these files are ISO image files so i go looking how to convert them to whatever so i can use this software.  i can't get a clear answer.  i tried something called imgburn but it doesn't make instructions very clear.  i am a total noob when it comes to all this data conversion crap.  could someone explain to me in lamens terms how to get this software usable?  thanks to anyone who can help.

get daemon tools and mount them to install them.

You do not convert them.  They are an image of the install disc, the 1s and 0s.  You can do one of two things...

Burn the image to a disc, then you will have a disc just like the install disc.  Nero has the capability, among many other programs.

Or... You can mount the image in a virtual drive.  Thats not really as hard as it sounds.  You us a program like Daemon Tools to create a virtual drive, which basically tricks you computer into thinking there is an extra DVD drive.  Then you tell Daemon Tools to mount the image on to that drive which basically tells the computer there is now a disk in your virtual drive.  You can then install it as though it were a real disk in a real drive.

I have the entire language set that I dled off bt as well, so I think I know the problem you're having (assuming we dled the same package).  There should be a notepad file that gives instructions, where you have to unzip (with a program like 7-zip or winrar) all the each language pack and pair them with a specific unzipped image pack.  On top of that, you have to throw in the application files and a couple other files too.  Now that I think of it, I don't remember there ever being an ISO file in there, so you might have gotten a different package, but that notepad is worth looking for.  It should say "readme.txt" or something.

this is comical.  i have everything mounted  and now i see no options that will get this thing started.  no "go" or "install" or "play" button or anything.

Well, you can either click eject tray and then return tray to encourage the autoplay to work, or you can open up "my computer" and double click on the virtual drive.
