I really enjoy reading that stuff, if that book is good I'd be tempted to check it out were there not so much readily available online. I'd reccomend this type of study to anyone who's generally curious, I've improved my scientific knowledge quite a bit by perusing teks and processes, when you're learning about something you're really interested in it's easy to stay focused, you might even do better than you did in school.

I don't have much background in chemistry, not even a good HS one, but with a little patience even I learned some pretty neat stuff; I probably wouldn't fair too well -at least initially- were I to put it into practice though (legal experiments of course).

If you're not willing to do hard time, don't practice the clandestine things you learn--unless you're in a friendly country or can handle huge legal bills and more stress than any person should be subjected too.
