preload image size when rendering page/website
    #8514187 - 06/12/08 05:48 AM (15 years, 11 months ago)

I wonder why my browser(firefox) doesn't preload the size of images on a website and already places a blank image of that size in the website while loading the image.

It is annoying when, for example, viewing a long thread on the Shroomery with lots of pics that the page keeps "moving" while loading the pics. I want a static page with the blanks gradually filled in while loading, without changing the size of the page/layout.

I hope you understand what I try to say. I couldn't find it with Google because I don't know what search words apply here.

Can anyone explain me why this doesn't happen or why it isn't possible or where I can download something that actually does this?

In order to this be the case, the image has to have the height and width tags, like here:

It can't just read the jpg image size before it is loaded?

Any reason for not (automatically) giving height and width tags to thumbnail images on the Shroomery?

Well, it certainly would be possible to script this, it would take more resources though.
