No, you don't want peat. You want cactus soil. The pH of peat is way too low and it holds too much moisture. That info on the package is also incorrect. The more sunlight, the more mescaline? Pfffft. You need about a 30-50cm cutting, they're active but they're not pure drugs.

you also want some sort of clay pot, otherwise it holds too much moisture.

WTF, eating 12cm babies is a goddamn waste of poor plants!!! be patient and wait till it gets mature. just remember you've chosen to grow cacti, the slowest growing plants.
i am too beginning with cacti: today i've started two trays of seeds: t. peruvianus and t. bridgesii, thanks to a generous fellow.
man, you're not gonna plant your cacti together with your cannabis are you? what's that peat moss for? the plastic vase is ok if it's indoors (look out not to overwater it)... but clay is way better. i also note you need some reading on the subject. www.erowid.org has couple growing guides with good info.
how long for you to use it? i guess that in 3 or 4 years you'll have medium size plants beginning to branch... (or more? or less?)...
one last thought: that label in the seedpack is sooo lame... what a lame supplier.

Read this http://www.cactus-mall.com/ccc/index.html
I put mine on the soil surface and sprinkle soft sand over the top until they are just covered. Do not berry them. They also work on the soil surface without covering. Seeds can be placed quite close, I sow a seed about every 3 cm.
