I'm not saying that using a more nutrious substrate won't result in more nutrious mushrooms.  I'm saying that the difference is going to be negligible for almost any purpose other than strict analysis.  The mushroom, when supplied with a few basic materials and nutrients, will be capable of utilizing its own metabolic pathways to synthesize a good portion of the deficient materials.  Obviously, it can't do this for everything or for very large deficiencies, but that's not really a concern unless you trying to cultivate on something like sugar-water where there is LITERALLY only two chemicals available.  Plants and fungi are amazing organisms capable of quite extraordinary processes.  Give them some credit, but be aware of their weaknesses.

Almost any bulk substrate that you can find written about on this website will provide enough nutrients for a bulk grow a time or two through.  I would, however, switch substrates every couple of grows if you are cloning from each generation to the next instead of utilizing a master culture.
