does anyone have any experience with this?
I just bought a book called hand reflexology a few days ago and its really great. Like did you guys know the whole humn body and its organs are mapped out on your hand? its crazy and very fascninating stuff I've ben doing some of the hand exercises and they seem to be pretty vitalizing as far as my energy and just how I feel in general.
hand reflexology, anyone?

I'm not a Hand Reflexology enthusiast or anything, but is it really so hard to consider?
Completely unrelated; you know the Right hemisphere of the brain controls the left side of your body, while the left hemisphere controls the right?

BS? FYI, Lack of proof, DOES NOT imply proof of lack.
I just don't feel like typing all about it because theres alot of information on it.
How about you do a little bit of your own research and read up about it a little bit before you jump to ignorant conclusions.

Same goes for the ears, feet, etc. As far as massage/acupuncture points.

UM, maybe its each side of the hand? There is no right hand & left hand labels on that picture.

yeah and its different for each side of the hand because certain internal organs are located in different areas of the body.

My mom was actually a certified reflexologist for most of her career (Massage therapist mainly). It was usually included in a batch deal when she worked at a Chiropractic clinic. Anyway, yes it actually does work, to an extent. No, it's not going to cure cancer or some shit, it works more like pressure points.
Quite a few times she pulled the tooth pain cure trick. Someone she knew would be bitching about tooth pains, so she would take their hand, do a little massage trick, and their tooth pain would be gone for a bit. Her favourite tools for this was using massage, a wine cork, or a pencil/pen. :P

So, if I clap my hands and stomp my feet all day, will I be "better"....? What happens if I do it too much, internal injuries....?

reflexology was actually featured on Penn and Tellers bullshit

You can do reflexology without those maps. The locations don't really matter. Same with acupuncture.

Ferris said: I can see where there might be a scientific basis behind this, so I can accept that someone skilled at this can send A signal to a certain part of the body, but how would they send a SPECIFIC signal. It seems to me that you are just as likely to send a signal that could induce wrenching pain, as opposed to say pleasure. Or am I missing something here?
It depends how you touch the part. Yes you can send the opposite effect... a retching pain or worse.... causing organs or specific parts of the body to constrict and lock up.. and this is where martial arts like Dim Mak and Chin Na originate from.. and terms like "the touch of death". Dim Mak is basically the art of striking pressure points, or "chi cavities" as they are called - they are the same points as acupuncture points.. with the intent of causing harm instead of healing. I have not studied it very in-depth, so I don't know a whole lot about it.. but I do know there is a very detailed science behind it, and a proper teacher will make sure you know how to fix it before you know how to break it. So a master of Dim Mak is usually also a master of massage therapy (reflexology) or acupuncture first. It requires a pretty extensive knowledge of human anatomy.
The way you send specific signals depends on the type of touch used. In massage therapy and acupuncture, you are lightly massaging that area or using a tiny needle, and then rotating that either clockwise or counter-clockwise. The way I understand it is that the direction you rotate has a different effect in sending signals through the nerves or 'chi channels'.. or as they are called - meridians, to that specific part of the body you are targeting. In Dim Mak, you are striking the same area with a sharp strike with great force.. with a focused force such as with just 1 or 2 fingertips.. causing the opposite effect as reflexology - a stagnation or blocking of the qi energy or life force going to that specific part of the body. It also takes into account the circadian rhythm and which points are "open" at that specific time of the day to know the changes in blood flow to have the effect desired. You could strike someone in a certain spot, and they wouldn't suffer any effect... only to find 8 hours later.. that their liver is in extreme pain. That's just a small example which gives you an idea of how detailed a science this is.
Boxers may be familiar with one such point.. which is located on near the bottom underside of the jaw. If you hit the right spot, coming upwards at an angle.. it can instantly knock someone unconscious. There are several such spots around the body. Dim Mak itself, is for the most part kept very secretive and finding a real teacher would prove to be extremely difficult... for good reason. There are points you can strike which would be fatal to the person, some which will just drop you to your knees in pain, some which would temporarily paralyze you.. some that could make your whole left arm go numb.. the possibilities are endless. Needless to say it can be devastating in the hands of a novice who may not have a deep understanding of the systems involved.

my friends dad can stop headaches by pressing a point on your ear. it only works if the pain is in the back of the head, but it goes away in a few minutes. i guess back in the day people called it magic.

Yeah I have been able to stop a few headaches by massaging a part on my right hand.. the webbing in between the thumb and finger.. similarly for various aches and pains I get.. I always try and experiment on myself.
What I find funny is that the chinese have been developing it and using it to treat just about everything for thousands of years and the western world is only just recently catching on.

Wow, I always wondered the logic behind my mom massaging between my thumb and finger when I had a headache. I always chalked it up in later years to placebo. Maybe it was, maybe not.

It's quite real.
You can do it to yourself. The only thing that hard to massage is your own back.

which makes even less sense. humans are fairly symmetrical and i understand that our nervous system has relations between different parts of the body. i just don't see how this can do anything significant.
