rinse for fresh shrooms

i've been rinsing my shrooms after harvest, however it seems like this may be reducing the potency of them. (or, perhaps I am just building a bitch of a tolerance).
what do you d00ds think?

It doesn't affect potency, but you shouldn't rinse them. RR

complete tolerance issue. The active ingredients are not specifically contained in the outer part of the mushroom. however if you simply squeeze your mushrooms and remove some of the juice while washing, that could be a problem. Treat them well and nothing will happen

thanks RR!
but why not rinse them? i'm afraid that there may be bacteria etc. on the outside, that might give people nausea and/or diarrhea????

unless your cakes/grow is contaminated, i wouldnt worry about that
if they are contaminated you will know, and you shouldnt eat them anyway
no worries

If there's bacteria on your fruit and veggies you're not getting off by rinsing them. And the nausea is from the shrooms not bacteria on the shrooms. Some people get sick. Some don't. Some of the people that usually don't get sick, will get sick. To put it this way....It's all in your head in both senses mate .

i also like to rinse all the verm off, cause that shit is gross in your teeth.
and i disagree that it does nothing to the bacteria. a light rinse and rub under water can cause massive damage to the biofilms that bacteria live in

Adding more water to something that is 90% water to begin with will only make it take longer to dry. This in turn will cause rot and mold growth to happen during the drying process which in turn will lead to nausea more than any bacteria that may have grown on the mushroom.

my friend just cuts off anything that won't scrape off with a razorblade. if you cut really thin you can minimize your losses, but if you grow it's not that big of a deal anyway.

Yeah, but hopefully you aren't spraying your shrooms with insecticides and coating them in wax either to preserve freshness :P
