Fruit Size?
    #848981 - 08/28/02 12:04 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

What determines the size of the fruit some have big tree trunk stems and wiegh 35 grams while others are thin and barely wiegh anything? What causes the different sizes of fruits.?
Also on a side not a have a horse poo case that has pulled greatly from the sides after this flush(1st) should i fill in the empty space with poo?
Why did it pull away so much? Lack of water? what about can i fill the tubberware container with the casing in with water if that is the case. Honestly its sa really big a strong casing and i don't want to lose it
also another question i had a litle contam prob so i poured h202 (not sure if that was a bad or good idea) onto my casing, contams are gone but not there is like yellow stuff of the top. is this bad?
OH BTW THE BLOCK OF MYC. making up the casing is about 8inx14inx2in
Thanks
Ill be around alot more after i get this damn digital camera, talk to you all later

There is no simple answer to this question. There are many variables at play such as moisture, CO2 concentration, substrate, strain, etc.

You should fill in the gaps after every flush.

Bingo. It dries out. Mushrooms are 90% water. Think how much water was removed from the substrate.

Hard to say. Could be mycellium piss or a contaminant. Post a pic to the contamination forum if you're not sure.

So there is no way to control Fruit size. Even if i have a huge, deep casing its possible to have narrow stems??

No.....use casing material.

2 reasons.
The mycelium is eating the poo so it shrinks.
The water content is being used when the mushrooms are growing.

You won't lose the casing due to it shrinking.
After each flush you will fill the gaps with casing material.

What kind of Contam problem?
Cobweb mold or Green ?
You probably shouldn't pour h202 onto your casing.....spraying is better.
The yellow could be mycelium piss.
If you could post a picture it would help determine what it is.

good luck!

Would spraying the casing layer with 9/1 water/h2o2 that used for spraying the walls for humdity hurt the mycelium??
