cooling power...

Its easy to add heat with small aquarium heaters, warming pads and all other stuff but what about cooling things down a bit...
My fruiting room keeps a temp of 78 to 80 degrees constant and inside the chamber temps are even higher. Problem is that air conditioners are big and other than putting ice in the thing I dont have any clue how to get temps down 5 degrees or so...
Any suggestions?

Perhaps a cool mist system of some kind? Or try moving it to a cooler part of the house like a basement (though you've probably already tried that) This is just a wild guess. I spose people don't often have problems with needing to cool down there systems...Good luck

A cool mist will drop your temp, and I found this post but I have personally never tried this but it sounds like it wwould work. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum2&Number=770283&Forum=Forum2&Words=air%20conditioner%20cooling%20&Match=And&Searchpage=0&Limit=100&Old=1year&Main=770130&Search=true#Post770283 i found this post doing a search for "air conditioning" and "cooling" It was posted in July and the post was started by FD3000.

I agree with Moe, its cheap and effective, get some of those gel ice things and freeze them, then throw them in the growing container, it will drop the temps. bluhoney

dry ice is CO2..... why risk higher concentrations of it in your terrarium? It is expensive and won't last long unless it is in a well insulated container, problem with that is that it won't do anthing for the terrarium if it is in a well insulated container. Did you check the link I provided..... sounds easy. A gel pack is cool cuz it's reusable, but you're gonna need atleast two so that when one is thawing, the other is freezing.

I used to blow up things with co2 in high school. It sounds like a shotgun blast.

Here is what i did, I build a very simply little airconditioner for my terrium ?kinda? a while back, worked like a charm:)
As you can see, the tubing from the pump runs into the small ?CHEAP? cooler, inside the cooler there is about 5-feet of tubing which is coiled around in there ?so that the air has enough time to get chilled? and then run out of the cooler by connecting it to a nipple, the cooler is then filled with water ?with the coiled tubing inside? and frozen. When your terrium needs some cooling simply connect the cooler to the pump on one end, and the terrium on another end, styrofoam keeps ice frozen really well. I use this all the time, helps to constantly initiate new pinning without the mess of ice-packs, and the risk and inconvienience of putting your casing in the fridge. Some people may find it stupid, but it?s simple and it works great for me.

If you are handy, you could hook up a peltier junction. Electronic gizmo used for cooling or heating. They are the key to those electric coolers that also heat food.

You could also get another tank , large enough to put your grow chamber into(at least 2 inches on all sides bigger ) , fill it up about a third of the way up your grow tank , fill it with water and add ice , monitor how often you need to chill to maintain a constant temp (kinda tough) you desire . Constantly monitor water quality so as to not allow stagnant water full of bacteria to be a problem . But the evaporarion of the water in tank alone could drop your overall temp 1-3 degrees . You could also use an ice chest instead of larger tank . Make sure your grow tank is sealed , do not want water leaks into grow area , also make sure you weight it down or hold it down into water ..........no floaties !
This a cheap way to go if you already have materials at home ice chest or bigger aquarium , water , ice . Change at least 20% of water every 2 days to prevent stagnant water .
