Yeah, that's what I was thinking. There were literally HUNDREDS of pins. I'm guessing it just used more FAE than normal and fanning wasn't adequate. I think you've just convinced me after about 4-5 years to start drilling holes in my tubs.
+5 to you.

Holes are good man. I been considering putting a fan on timer in the same room as mine.

I have a fan that I leave on 24/7 in the room now. I'm thinking about just rigging a coolmist to the tubs on a timer. This grow should have got me at least over 8 ounces.

That's a pretty damned sweet amount. I'd be quite happy with that.

I grew penis envy on straw, in a container half the size of that and the first flush was 6 ounces dry.

That was another experiment that went bad. My last 2 or 3 grows haven't done nearly as well as the ones before. I had a 45 gallon straw tub with combodian in it. Full bale of straw just like the 35 gallon..I neglected the fuck out of it, being cocky. It contaminated on me. I got about 2 ounces though. I was experimenting with different types of lime too.

You managed to get fruits out a contaminated tub? Were the colonisation time fast?

Well, it contaminated right before it started flushing. I tried to fight it. Fruits will still grow in a contaminated tub as long as the whole thing isn't contaminated. It's not a good idea though. It will spread alot of spores everywhere. It took about a week to colonize the straw.

Yeah true. Not a bad colonisation time though.

I've got 3 colonized jars of ecuador left. I'm heating up water to pasteurize now. While it's cooling down, i'm gonna run to walmart and find a good tub. I probably won't use a whole bale of straw this time. I want the whole thing to colonize in about 3-4 days. I want to get a good flush again. Lol. Do you add lime to your pasteurizing straw. I was thinking about adding a teaspoon of hi-yield to the soak water.

I haven't even used straw yet, too much trouble to blend it up to a decent size.
Would adding lime to straw be necessary? I don't imagine it would be very acidic to start with.

Well hopefully a new tub and the improved FAE will fix your woes. My FC is a mini shotgun. Now I just have to wait for my new PC to get here.

Straw is actually a very good substrate to work with. You don't have to shred it up if you buy the bales from michaels.
I've just read up on lime baths with straw a little.

Hrmm. What should I do with these next 3 jars? I'm thinking of another straw grow, in a smaller tub.
