Sterile techniques for spawning?

In RRs video he is spawning rye spawn to bulk in his hpoo section in the kitchen without the flow hood etc. How sterile do you need to be when spawning. I do not have a hood but use a glove box but not use that box when doing spawning work.
I ask this question because my maztapec strains all grew bacteria and not much myc in my bulk poos. Wanting to know if my sterile techniques are wrong or if the strain and spawn was weak and contamed already which I believe the case to be for my ecuadors are wonderful.

spawning is done in the open air. Bulk subs are practically contam proof for 2 weeks if properly pasteurized and spawned with clean cultures.
Don't scratch your balls directly over the substrate while sneezing all over it though.

Bulk substrates rarely grow bacteria unless they're so wet they're swimming. I'd suspect it was not properly pasteurized, or your spawn was contaminated. When producing your grain spawn or pf cakes, you must be sterile. When using them to inoculate bulk substrates, be clean, but that's all that's required. RR

Alright, thanks all. Taken care of. Got 2 17x13 bulk trays that only took one week to fully colonize being 5in deep. It was beautiful. I fixed my water content and voila. I hope the casing turns out as even as the substrate.
