Does anyone know what acctually causes psilocybe cubensis to grow wild. Im racking up in the fields but me and some friends took some pattys that were obvioulsly producing in 5 gallon buckets back to the house and laid them out in the back yard and have been watering them with no results. WHY NOT??!! Is there something in the soil in the fields that produce that contribute to the growth or what??

Temp., humidity, and weather. You probably disrupted the mycelium network that not only is in the cow shit, but also the ground itself. If you leave it for a few weeks it will possibly establish a new stronger network, and start producing again. Just be sure to water them daily. Did you take patties that had mushrooms growing from them? If not then they may not have any in it.

Cattle etc. dispense spores in the dung, before a spore germinates it will last virtually forever or until its destroyed.
Therefore if a cow for example eats feed that contains spores, it will disperse them along with the dung.
Making a happy habitat for them to grow.

Probably, humidity and temperature are different at their new spot. Also, you shocked the mycelium by transplanting it, chances are slim that it will fruit within a short period of time. The mycelium might recover if you keep the substrate damp, if that happens and weather conditions are favorable, you might get some fruits.

But why bother storing shit in your garden if you can pick them in the 'wild' or cultivate some.
