This is OFF TOPIC! Try posting in general questions, becasue this is definitely not advanced mushroom cultivation (more like: advanced mycelial consumption before having sex with girlfriend). This is not a clever idea: to encourage others to make extracts of mycelium grown on grain in jars. Firstly, you cannot be 100% sure it is all mushroom mycelium, and there could be poisonous fungi present. Perhaps your erectile stimulation was due to botulinum toxin!!! Personally I do not find it necessary to consume moldy rye cakes to perform passionately

Good post Hip, My GF laughed so hard she almost peed her pants! ROTFLMAO.
By the way,in Japan, someone used to sell shrooms in capsules as an aphrodisiac, before he got busted. He gave less and charged more. Yes, 1-2 capsules won't effect you mentally, but it will effect you physically.
Nice to know fresh mycelia does the same thing. Perhaps this should be in another forum, but let's discuss, my test was with a jar 10 days old. What would happen if you used a jar 2 weeks old? 3,4,5 weeks old? The older, the stronger. I wonder just how much is lost due to boiling?------------------

Just an FYI or two...
First off, the dude who was selling shroom powder as an aphrodesiac must not have been selling shroom powder -- shrooms are legal in the land of the rising sun. No joke, i just moved back to the US after living in japan for two years -- they sell them in the little mama-san shops (smaller than 7-11) as Mental Mushrooms for about $50 a gram -- and the shops buy them from people, not vendors.Second, i eat shroom cakes every now and then... i haven't experienced quite what you are alluding to, but i have tripped pretty well off of my cakes. Yes, i'm an impatient bastard and so are my friends. Three people can have a strong ass trip off of one half pint cake. Oh yeah, I don't make tea -- we just eat the cake. There's some truth in the whole heat thing, maybe more so due to the fact that the cake is mycelium, and not a matured fruit. You get what you're willing to go through. Anyway, peace love and napppiness... keep it real... jungle world -- one love. ------------------

why you say 8 doses per cake ?
figured you for high tolerance.
if you can get 8 doses off a pinning cake, why bother fruiting ?

Exactly hip, it is not required to fruit to have psilocybin. I can't believe boiling works, I thought it would destroy the alkaloids. Why 8 doses? I split 1 quart of rye into 4 quart jars. When they start to pin, I break them up into 20 ml. lemon juice and 1 cup water.Shake 2-3 days until blue. Strain and drink. (Lucid lemonade!) Serves 2 or more persons, or 1 does if your like me, hence 4-8 doses per jar. The substrate pins 10 times faster the less you use. The more you use, the larger they will be, although a little longer time will ensue. That's the yin/yang of mushrooms, like shiitake on logs vs. sawdust.
So, the discussion could be: Any other uses for mushroom homeopathy out there? Increased sight, circulation, Longer sustained erection, etc.
Also, that bust was several years ago, I though it was Japan, I could be wrong on that I guess.
The on topic I guess whould be homeopathy, just a little does a lot.
Small doses of cyans help hearing, etc.------------------

inteesting that you mention pinning.
many have tried myc. and complained of little potency.
do you think the pinning triggers a rise in potency, as compared to myc. still colonizing ?
there might be a tek here....
if you're correct and small batches pin fast, which the s.o.s. tek supports, and pinning triggers a boost in potency, then the fastest way to get a 'dose' might be to grow the pf strain, known for its' in vitro pinning'
in very small jars,
on grain to avoid nasty vermiculite taste.
if one used honey water, etc. to inoculate, one cold reasonably be dosing in about 2 weeks, start to finish.

Pins give a DRAMATIC increase in potency!
A while back, I did an experiment; I made tea from my rye grain because I had a challenge with fruiting. I was using PF strain on straight rye grain. PF pinned well, but did not grow into mushrooms, albeit a few. PF needs rice, I strongly suggest mixing brown rice in with your rye grain, or go straight brown rice. PF is about the strongest cubie, or I should say one of the strongest. Anyway, in tea form, at least for me, quick onset-10 minutes, and little to no gastro-intestinal discomfort.
I made tea ( Cold) with 1/4 cakes 1,2,3 and 4 weeks old. Each week the potency increased. I called it "Orgasmo" and brough it to a party as the punch. Great hit, even for non-trippers who enjoyed the calm, tranquil feeling it gave. Once pins form, it will kick your butt!
So Hip, to sum it up, make your substrate, let it grow white, divide into 4 containers, let sit neglected until pins form. Actually, light would be advantageous with this tek,border breaks would be welcome. Then make tea, hot or cold. Grain sits a long time in the fridge with no loss of potency. It still grows, just very slowly. So, just pop out of the fridge, let warm up, smell and inspect the jars, and go.------------------

Wow here is another totally Mad Ass but of course pure fantasy perhaps bordering on reality idea. It doesn't work too much since most things have an LD/50.
