Incubation in Box

To people who get Kerr's 1/2 pint jars in those boxes......Can you simply place the substrate jars into the box and allow it to colonize in there? Placing the box in a dark spot? Or is it too hot? I will be taping the holes I made with scotch tape, so humidity shouldnt be a problem.

I live in a very very dry place, so It shouldnt be a problem if i tape back the holes after inoculation correct?

i put them in the box they came in inside a closet. i use a heater to keep things at 85F and i pay no attention to humidity; although i know it's never above 60 during the summer. anyways the jars colinize fine and fast.

The vermiculite on top should prevents moisture from getting out and contaminants from getting in. My kitty sticks her's in the box they came in and three weeks later they're ready to birth. She leaves the holes open but puts the foil back on that she uses when sterilizing to keep water in and out.

Say, can I have some of your purple berries?
Yes, I've been eating them, for six or seven weeks now, haven't got sick once.

Yeah but verm doesn't guarentee anything, contamination is still possible. I would cover the holes, let the cakes colonize, then dunk them.
