CHECK IT OUT
these are both quotes from RR, he posted two stories about the same thing although lied about one lol... on the first post he talked about his brother wanting to try mycology and the second he filmed a video with Roadkill;
Quote:
*Let me tell you guys a story. My fellow moderator Roadkill and I were filming a video segment on pf jars over at my brother's house a month or two ago. Later that day, my non-mycologist brother moved everything we left behind out to his garage, jars included, just to get them out of the way. I told him it didn't really matter, as I just wanted to film the process of making/inoculating the jars. Three weeks later, I went over there and guess what? All of the jars were fully colonized. The temperature of his garage during this time varied from the mid 30's to the low 50's. (He lives about 50 miles from the Canadian border) So, if properly made pf jars can colonize in three weeks at those low temps, why bother with silly incubators? COLONIZATION STORY
Quote:
*Last year, while visiting my brother, I inoculated a bunch of jars for him, thinking he was actually interested. This was in December. I went back in February, and found he didn't have time to bother with them, so put them out in the garage. Temps outside were in the teens and twenties, and in the unheated garage, 30's to low 40's. The jars were fully colonized. I took them home and they fruited like mad. Low temps slow things down, but that's all. I keep master culture slants in the refrigerator for years. COLONIZATION STORY

Where's the lie? I could have brought the jars back after we inoculated them. I left them there thinking he wanted them, which he had said he did that day. You expect me to repeat the whole making the video story all over every time? The point is, they'll colonize at lower temps than most people previously thought. RR

I can confirm room temperature is sufficient for colonization. After reading RR's notes I dissembled my incubator. I keep them in the tube I used as a bottom tube for the incubator and they are thriving. I have the even the feeling mycelium is colonizing faster. The room temperature is about 25 degree. I think the growth of the mycelium inside the jars is providing the necessary heating. I have 44 250 ml jars and 2 1,5 kg mycobags inside.

All the pictures I post are either photoshopped or ripped from the internet. Whenever i trade for spores it is for examining the spores under microscopes to see their characteristics. There is no reason why I would ever want to nor will I grow mushrooms containing psilocybin.

I wish I had read this a month ago! My 10 day old jars of GT have caught up to my month old jars of the same GT syringe, now that I've lowered the temp down to 78 degrees instead of 85 degrees!
Love all the experience I get to learn from.
Thanks RR & Dumbfounded
