depends very much on substrate, PH, and the kind of fertilizer that is added..hard to say....try in a small tray with a piece of cake...

I use Schultz Pro-Potting soil with plant food (0.08-0.12-0.08) and it worked OK. I battled with molds though. I think a peat moss/verm (50/50) may work better because of less nutrients.

BTW I pasturized the soil in an oven bag in the oven. Bad Idea stinks up the house. I think boiling water in a cooler with a drain would be a better way to pasturize.

Better yet check out the tek for a polymer casing. Plastic has no nutrients.

I use potting soil all the time, it works great for me.
