ID Blewits?

Last year I found this yard full of grey-purple mushrooms. They were thick at the base, solid stemmed, fragrant, and the gills were wide spaced. I don't remember what color the print was...about 2-4" tall and 1" wide at the cap and base. Strange looking. Pine and hardwoods surrounded, Appalachian mts...whatcha think? Curecat?
Also in the yard was a monstrous, recurrent (I go back every fall!) chicken mushroom that was in floret form weighing at least ten pounds! Bright orange with yellow and white accents. Very tasty!

Well, the mushroom you posted is definitely Lepista nuda. Buuuut, without a current photo of your finds, I cannot give you a positive ID. Try and get a photo if you can.

cool. Thanks CureCat. I knew you would know. I wont have more photos till fall. I knew I should have nibbled too, but I get nervous with gilled fungi more than things like chantrells, puffballs, boletes, shelf, tooth, coral and such. Sooo I dont munch without sure ID. NOW I know to snatch everything in that yard! All goodies! yea! Cant wait!

Yeah, I'm wrong. The gills look much more like Laccaria. Good call falcon!
Oreandra, Laccaria are also good edibles!

Wish I had written down the color or kept the spore print on that one. I'm always thankful when the nasty look alikes are easily distinguishable by print colors or other obvious means. Still sounds good...
It's good when homeowners are cool about folks plundering their yards.... she did raise her eyebrows at me when I asked though....hehe.
I'm still waiting for the fungi to start popping up everywhere here. Been camping 4-5 times and found nothing but withered leftovers, or random jellies. Missed the morels here somehow-- dang it. I never get out early enough anymore...
