So, 45 min. in a 15psi pressure cooker will not kill the quinoa seeds, and they will sprout!!? So, if your right, I'm assuming the mycelium must overtake the sprouted seedlings and eat them alive huh? Wow, interesting stuff.

Greetings & Salutations!
Strange . . .I've always ground it to a flour before I straight-out purchased it floured and have never had problems. In fact, Alien, you were THE guru I learned of Quinoa from and I always assumed (ass outta U and ME) that you used it as a flour. . .Back to the 'drawing' room, although I've been quite impressed with it mixed with brown rice flour. . .

Not doing the Alien TEK but I think I recall it being the exact opposite of your way.

I seem to recall it using
Whole seed Quinoa
and
Whole kernel brown rice

which is why it sparked my interest; sure beats thrashing my poor coffee chopper which is so abused it pust out more ozone than is depleted in a year.

The times I've used Quinoa I've left it whole and without vermiculite, and it worked great. I'm a big supporter of whole grain substrates, as they're much easier to make and have a much better consistency (which is conducive to shaking, which you can't do with ground grain and vermiculite). If I could only find a source of really cheap Quinoa (like around the same price as birdseed), I would use it all the time! Damn the health food stores and their markups!

when i use quinoa or whole millet i leave it like it is....quinoa has most of the proteins of all cereals and works really fine...
but still i prefer millet for some strains...

That's not a sprout it's the germination ring. It's just like the germ that comes off of wheat. Easy mistake. When cooked the expanding quinoa bursts the ring, leaving the wormy looking little half rings, some still attached to the seed.
