too much spawn
    #845112 - 08/26/02 07:38 PM (15 years, 8 months ago)

For some reason, I made way more spawn than I need right now. I live in one of those neighborhoods where each yard only has one tiny ass tree, so I can't really grow anything outdoors without it being very obvious. I also don't have anymore straw, so I can't go that route for the time being. Now I've got like 6 quart jars ready to use, but nothing to use them on. Can I store them for a while, say 2 weeks? I guess I could just case them, but I'd rather wait until I come across some poo or straw.

Put 'em in the fridge for the two weeks. They should be fine.

If your not too atatched to them spread the spawn outside. Dont think of it as starting an outdoor patch but as contributine to the environment.

When they grow they will drop their spores and more mushrooms will find homes in your community. In 5 years your generous spreading of the seed will create patches of mushrooms for miles around...

that would only work in warm climates, harsh northern winters would kill cubensis patches.

Thanks for the info, everybody. I've decided to "donate" a couple jars to the neighborhood, hopefully to appease the mushroom gods. Cold climates are no problem for me, it's around 95F outside right now, and around 85RH. Now to set up some boobytraps...

He's in Baton Rouge. I doubt he'll have too many issues.

Don't insinuate that someone is breaking the law. It isn't cool.

don't think i did insinuated anything,
i merely made an observation-to wit: northern winters would kill a cubensis patch.
sorry if i ain't 'cool' enough for you.
