what im asking is if anyone knows about cash advances with a credit card, meaning, using your card to pull money out of an atm...now i know its a bad idea, with high interest rates and fees and all that good stuff....the FAQ on my credit card shit says that its a $5 minimum and doesnt tell me what the maximum is, does anyone have experience with this, in terms of how much you can usually pull out? can you pull out your entire credit line or what, my credit line is 2,300, buti need $1000 so i guessi should just go try but figured i would see if anyone has tried this...anybody>?.........thanks in advance

The cash advance limit on credit cards is usually less than your actual credit limit. I would consult your credit card company prior to pulling funds, just to be sure what your limits are. There should be a phone number on the back of your card, so call it.

I'd just simply call your bank - or go in and see them. My bank lets me do a cash withdrawral equal to half.
But the main thing you'll want to do - is probably go to the bank and withdraw it over the counter.
This way, they are usually able to give you more (like the cash withdrawral limits on accounts are different if they're in person or with your card - this is to stop people from stealing your card and fleecing you, as you actually have to show up with ID to get more than X amount) And also, they wont think that someone has stolen your card & is fleecing you cause your at the counter with ID. Banks will cut off your card for you just because they "suspect there have been fraudulent transactions" on your card. A sudden $1000.00 cash withdrawral may come under this category. They will also sometimes just simply not allow the transaction for no apparent reason just because you may not be in the habit of withdrawing cash or making large purchases on your card.
So it helps if your standing at the counter and your quite obviously yourself. You'll avoid all possible hassles this way. (ie: they are likely to give you more money without accidently freezing your account)
Banks are like small children, sometimes you have to make even small things VERY obvious to them so they dont do something to "help" you that ends up cocking things up worse!!

Its a lie the banks are good at telling that their fraud prevention safeguards are for your protection. They're not.
The banks don't want to loose the money to whoemever is defrauding them so they block suspicious transactions. Then, cuz people are ignorant and all worried about identity theft, they market this in a deceptive way to customers (If your card is stolen we'll give you all your money back! translation: we'll give you 50 dollars)
Fact is banks do such things cuz the federal laws make it in their interest to do so.
Not raliling against you, just don't like disengenuous marketing. Another good example is the Allstate commercial with a guy in a courtroom:
"If your in an accident and are sued allstate will pay for an attorney for you"
Wow! You'll pay for an attorney? OMG! You mean you wont just let me default and incur judgment such that you loose the policy maximum for a case you could have won or settled for 1/20th the cost? How nice!

That's funny. I can advance my whole CC! And it's no small chunk either. Are you guys from the US who have this 1/2 limit advance?
