Any serious comuter users, what are your main components?

I am just wondering what your systems are running on, from th basics all the way to how you set up your internet components. I need some guidance on some things and your info is much appreciated.
-------------------- The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to complacency; From complacency to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.

Your ideal system is going to depend on what you use it for, but I suggest you get dual high-quality monitors, a good mouse, and a comfortable keyboard and go from there. These simple items will probably do more to increase your enjoyment and productivity than most other upgrades could.

Agreed...Mine is used to capture TV shows(My own little tivo), and browse the net etc. Its fast enough to play games(Call of Duty 4), and does a fairly good job. I guess I could add more memory, but its a laptop and dont think it will go much higher.
What do you intend to use yours for? I like getting a laptop, putting it in a "dock", connecting a mouse, keyboard, and 1/2 monitors to it, and using it as a desktop, but being able to pick it up and leave when needed.

Yeah mine's a high end gaming/game design rig, I spent extra on a crossfire setup and the higher end unlocked processors, complete overkill if you don't plan on gaming or doing game design.

Mine's mostly 3d game design, so I do a lot of ingame testing. Gets tedious.

Does that contain Quantify, Purify, and Pure Coverage? I used to use those tools a lot, back in the day, but the company was eventually purchased by somebody else and they started to focus on Microsoft tools instead of Unix tools.
I hated their copy protection. They actually tied the license key to an inode on the disk. If you moved the software, it stopped working. They also had a 'dial home' feature that fired whenever the program crashed. However, it was fairly easy to reverse the key verification code and write a keygen, making the annoying inode tie mute.
Very nice machine, supra. Great compromises to maximize performance without killing the pocket book for that last 1% boost.

yeah, i'm pretty sure it does, but not positive, as I dont use it, you can definitely integrate AGITAR which has pure coverage, my company want's me to start using it, but I prefer JUnit tests...but if your looking to buy the software for your home pc, it is really not going to help your pocket book. Eclipse on its own is open source, and really powerful, but to have the IBM RSA built on top of it, costs about $6000 per license, luckily my work takes that hit. I mainly use it for developing JSP's with dynamic page attributes using AJAX calls for presentation with a web service running in the background, which makes calls to business services run on IMS mainframes back at the data center. I also run a local test server where I deploy my compiled EAR files, that way I can test all the functionality directly on my box. If you have never used Eclipse look it up and try it out, it may do everything you need

Ford escort, sometimes a bus, and infrequently a subway or airplane. What are all these other guys talking about technology stuff for
I only have internet connections in my car if I use my cell phone, or in the airplane if I pay out the nose. Other than that I really don't have much internet integration in my comuter experience, unfortunately.
