I don't really know what you mean by tray materials but if you mean types of trays. I've used plastic, styrofoam and glass. They all work fine, no effect on the mycelium. My most prefered is a styrofoam cooler with top lid cut and and replaced with plexi-glass.

Dirty dog you are talking about terriums, I was asking about the trays that I lay my casings into. Mycomountain- how do you eliminate the problem of aborts from primordia formation along the sides of glass due to light penitration?

Maybe it would help if I gave an example of what I mean. I don't know if any of you are chefs here but when you beat an egg white enough if becomes frothy and eventually hard, now if you beat it in a copper bowl this happens very quickly and to a far better consistancy than in a bowl made from any other material. I wanted to know if there are any parallels to mycology in that casing tray compositions would adversly or conversly affect the growth of mycellium

vts1134 - I am not talking about terariums. I use styrofoam as a tray. Any container will work, stay away from clear due to the obvious problems with light. I don't think you will find a colaboration between yield or aborts or anything and materials. The normal way to eleimate aborts the side are to pick them.
