Loph getting eaten by something. Need help.

I've notice in the last week my loph is getting bites taken out of it. I'm not sure what it could be and how I can stop this from continuing. I've moved it inside for now until I get some kind of solution. but now there is nicks in the main head and one of it's pups. It's a Lophophora Williamsii Caesipitosa. I'm hoping they will just scab over. I don't want it to get mold onto it from the open wounds.
I also lost a whole tray of Lophophora Williamsii seedlings and a bunch from another tray. I moved it outside for the day in shade and when I checked later about 10 Loph's from 1 tray and all of the lophs from another. Only the trichs were left. What could that have been?
Heres a pic of the Larger specimen with the bight clearly shown on pup and head. Will it be alright? Any advice would be appreciated.

Could be baby slugs.

I had catterillar problems with my MJ plants last year. They got into the buds and really wreaked havoc. I'm thinking it was baby slugs with with this one since i noticed a little mini slug trail on the specimen. I'm not sure about the seedlings thoe. I was pissed. I left it out for the day and came out and one of the trays with loph and Trich seedlings had been looted of all the loph seedlings and a few in another tray. but the Trich seedlings were left alone. In the 1st tray I had only 7-8 loph seedlings and 1 trichocereus and it was empty of all but the single trich seedling.
I have brought the trays inside at windows now with shade cloth. They are doing much better. I have the trichs at a sunnier window but the lophs are more sensitive so I have them at full shaded window. I also have the Caesipitosa at the sunnier window hopefully it's old eneough to handle the sunnier window.
I think the caesiptosa should be fine until I figure out how to stop the insect culprits whatever it is. Once I do I'll move back outside. Maybe when my N Rusticas get older I could put prepared flower around the edges.

sounds like felix was bang on then....slime trails are a give away. that is one disadvantage of not have spines...easy to eat. i find only fresh/soft growth are affected with lophs....basically seedlings and grafts are worst off. none of my big plants are touched, by insects anyway.

I didn't see a big trail, only a bit of slime on the cuts as I looked in a magnifying glass. I also thought it could of been little fruit fly looking things cause I noticed them landing on the cactus even after moving inside. I hope thats not the case. If so moving inside won't help. I'll have to get rid of them in the soil.
Either way thanks for the help guys. i'll let you know what happens in the next couple days. Hopefully it will be OK and the bites will just scab over.
