Atropa belladonna propagation??
    #843216 - 08/26/02 01:33 AM (15 years, 10 months ago)

I have found some belladonna plants not far from my home... I would like to grow these in my garden (NOT to consume), but how do I propagate them? wait for the berries to ripen, and then what? Or cuttings?

Belladonna is most often propagated by seed planted into flats in early March, this is because the seeds take 4-6 weeks to germinate. Once the seedlings are an inch high they can be moved and set out 18 inches apart from one another, or put into individual pots.
Belladonna may also be propagated by cuttings of the green branch tips.

Oh yeah, if it's not too far away from your home, and where they are is in the wild (and not like some dude's herb farm that is selling them), just fine the smallest one and dig it up roots and all. Be careful not to touch the leaves too too much, as alkaloids will rub off into your skin, this done enough will cause effects.
