“Obviously, I find these remarks and others deeply offensive and indefensible, and I repudiate them. I did not know of them before Reverend Hagee's endorsement, and I feel I must reject his endorsement as well,” McCain said in a statement to CNN Thursday.
This televangelist has been making wacky, offensive statements for many years. This is not some new revelation recently uncovered.
McCain needed votes and demonstrated his poor judgment in trying to garner them. Is this what we look for in a president? Don't look before you leap? Act and then regret?

i just believe in equal coverage. if you're gonna make a big deal about wright, then you should focus on this as well.
Do you think that McCain has the same relationship to an essential stranger as Barry had with his preacher for 20 years, who presided at his wedding, baptized his kids and was cited as a profound influence in Barry's book, even lending the title?
Do you think the fat girl at the checkout counter who said you had a cool hat has the same relationship to you as your wife?
You are easy. Like a baby Harp seal.

You believe that yourself should see to it that irrelevant bullshit should be posted on this site because it has happened in the past for a candidate of another political party?
So when lonestar makes a post that obama stubbed his toe, we must get a toe stub report from Mccain as well?
Hence my comment about degeneracy and the effect of a two party system.
i was speaking in general, not about you personally. of course its all irrelevant, just as wright is irrelevant when discussing obama. thats my point. i hate the 2 party system, and try not to feed into it too much. unfortunately we all end up fighting each other instead of focusing on the real problem.

Yep, and everytime someone says "I'll vote for the lesser evil" or "They're all the same" or whatnot without realizing there are many third parties w/ candidates they could support, the system further entrenches itself. Everytime someone talks about "bipartisan agreement/participation" as if that represents the totality of opinions on a subject, we loose a little less freedom.
Luckily we live in a country that has fairly robust protections for the third parties that wish to come on the field, however; there are still problems with states and laws that faver the two party system.
Untill the people start voting for third parties, whether green's, libertarians, or socialists, we'll not see the two parties start to change the way they behave, and we'll continue to see a continual regression in the tenor of the debate.
THis should have been clear to anyone watching the debates in the past couple of years, seeing just how similar both parties are, only differing on the incredibly stupid issues such as gay marriage, hate crimes, and other hot button bullshit that has no place in our federal government for the most part.
Patriot Act? Dems and Reps agree; War on Drugs? Dems and Reps agree; War in Iraq? Dems and Reps agree (despite some symbolic bullshit whining from the Dems); Federal supremacy and involvement in every part of our lives? Dems and Reps agree; Huge federal government? Desm and Reps agree.
I will continue to vote libertarian in all races in which one runs, generally unless there is something unpaletable w/ the candidate, which is usually only governor and President, and I urge you to also, or vote green if you like. When a third party starts getting 10% of the vote, they'll start to be a threat, and the candidates will be forced to attempt to siphon off some ot these voters by aceeding to their demands. Then we will see the explosion of ideas and removal from our entrenched positions in re: to the above issues.
