How to open Acrobat Reader in firefox tabs when you have both acrobat reader and acrobat pro install

I have acrobat pro and acrobat reader installed. I want to open files in acrobat reader in tabs in Firefox cuz it loads faster than Acrobat Pro and the Acrobat family is the only thing that will open in-browser using Firefox (correct me if wrong, please). I will strip all the stupid plugins adobe has decided should be loaded at startup for some reason from reader, while maintaining adobe acrobat pro's plugins in their original state so I don't forget what I did if I need to use it to create or edit a PDF.
Despite Adobe assuring everyone that they've answered ever conceivable question on their help pages and that if you can't find your question their your an idiot, I can't find my question there.
Anyone know how to do this?
ANyone w/ helpful suggestions including some other program that will open pdfs in firefox would be welcomed to share them.
(worthless screed to follow)
PS Does anyone else think that PDF's are WAY overused, especially by government and institutions? They love to post stupid PDF files for no reason, things that could easily be reproduced via simple web pages. Hey assholes, I don't need a PDF to take in the awesomeness of the "library hours of operation" document you've posted, I think I could deal w/ a regular web page, k? If I have to open a separate file as a pdf it better have some amazing formating or need for the pdf standard (such as a long document that benefits from the bookmarks.

Sorry, not much help for your first question... though I am curious what the solution is, so when figured out, please post.

When I worked for the Fed, we had a 'graphics' department that produced all of our public print materials. They worked in the world of paper publishing and didn't take well to new technologies. From their perspective, a pdf is a virtual piece of paper to which they can scan their real print for digital reproduction.
You also get the 'Dilbert Effect' where some mid-level manager gets it into their head that PDF is the future and everything must be done via PDF or it isn't to be done at all. PDFs really do work nicely for government forms, so they must be the perfect solution for everything.
