Hi. I am not very often here on the shroomery (time constraints) however found your post while looking to see if anyone tried our products (we make spore vials, syringes, and growkits in EU). We occasionally supply "some" of the spores to MagicPlants, however we didn't supply the Cambodian. Since they sell some of our products, I feel badly about your lack of success. Obviously any negative impression affects our business as well.
I am minimally familiar with his growbags (we did not produce them) however, after reviewing your description it appears you had to sterilize the kit? The website's description for his growbag is as follows: "These mushroom grow bags are pre-sterilized, and have a self healing rubber injector site." Perhaps sterilizing the kit yourself was a mistake? Also, you should have the temp consistently(74 to 80F is good) for the spores to germinate more quickly. Sometimes the spores clump so if there is air in the syringe then shake the suspension a little to disperse the spores. I wait extra days/weeks for spores to germinate under cooler conditions.
If you still feel it is the fault in the product then send an e-mail or call the company and explain your situation. Maybe they will replace the product. If they don't assist you then inform me and I will send you a free kit (different type...for edibles) and a free spore vial (for microscopy use).
If you are going to spend money on a growkit I reccommend presterilized at least for the first attempt. A presterilized growkit should be designed to eliminate as many steps and resources that are typically required for mushroom production(i.e. autoclave, sterile area/laboratory), and get right to the fruiting. Otherwise you could spend some more time here with shroomery resources, and with a little commitment, produce your own media and later spores(if you already possess a decent sterilizer). And hey...this site is loaded with info.
There is a learning curve however, and becoming a consistently successful cultivator (independent from growkits) often translates into overcoming successive failures.
Let us know how it goes and sorry to hear about your trouble.

Hi, I spoke with Magic Plants and they are happy to assist you with your complaints. They would like you to respond directly that a remedy may be provided asap. I have not seen many complaints about this company, and often a problem is due from shipping, storage or use of customer, or some other variable beyond the point of sales. When you see hundreds of complaints about a product then you must question the product or supplier integrity. (w/internet factor in the sources of the complaint). Anyway, they want to help you out. Peace.
