That got you to click didn't it!
I like the theory of evo, its good and we do have tail bones which is dam good evidence BUT
the question is why do animals stop evolving?
Why are there still fish and lizards and things still existing? How have we evolved from them yet they are still there untouched?
Its baffling me.

Animals never stop evolving, you just don't notice it happening because it is so slow. We did not evolve from these birds or reptiles, we share a common ancestor, they evolved in one direction and us in another. Please just go to wikipedia to learn about it because you obviously don't understand it.
-------------------- "A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe'; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security." Albert Einstein

The "family tree" really is the best way to envision this. Or just look at your hand. Your thumb represents humans, index finger is apes, middle finger is monkeys, etc.
Those branches lead back to the hand which is the common ancestor of the primates. Humans are not more evolved or less evolved than the other primates, or than any living thing. Every species has been evolving for as long as all the others, just in different directions.
Across the way is another arm. The hand it leads to represents the "fish and lizards and things" that exist today (It doesn't directly correlate to primates but I think I know what I'm getting at.)
The fingers on that hand reach out just as far from the evolutionary body as the fingers on our primate hand. Both have a common ancestry that split off into two separate but coexisting "arms" of life.
..and the fingers are still growing and splitting

In the world of evolution, what is the need for an advanced brain like ours. Other species dominated without the use of an advanced brain. In a world where the strong survive, poetry, music, and literature are of little use. The theory of evolution does little to explain how humans arrived on earth. It does show how some living things have the ability to adapt to their enviroments. If the theory of evolution is true, is man still evolving and where do we go from here.

Poetry, music, and literature are just examples of communication, and are evident in various species.

Why did the common ancestor of apes and humans split into two different species?
This can be for a number of reasons. perhaps one group traveled to a different area. The conditions in that area sparked a need for evolutionary change, and eventually they become another species.
I think most cases involve one group being under different conditions caused evolution to speed up, and making them a different species.
The havent stopped evolving though, its just, there was a split. like apes. humans didnt come from apes, there was a common ancestor.

I have read that when a breeding population is high, mutations are likely to be bred out. So if a species is doing well they may not change for millions of years. If a group becomes isolated, there's the chance for a branch to be created if the breeding population is small enough that mutations become dominant. Not sure how truthful it is, but it's interesting.

Good point, I better start spreading the aids immediately...it all about evolving the species for the good of all.

You basically answered it right there. Other species already were dominating when we came down out of the trees as apes. Everything else had already been tried: camouflage, speed, size, teeth and claws - apes excelled at none of them. So we started evolving our brains as a way of keeping ahead of the curve. I can talk about this all night if you'd like to know more.

This thread was moved from Philosophy & Spirituality.
Reason: This is an EXTREMELY elementary question that should should have been answered in first year high school biology. Be that as it may, if you're really interested in catching up, start reading here:

Meanwhile, this topic is better suited to the Science forum.

Thats great.
You all call me retarded and say how simple the question is yet none of you dumbass's can answer it.
Saying things went in different directions makes no sense. If things are constantly evolving, why do we still have simple one celled organisms? If they had evolved then they would surely be more complex by now? How is humans get a big brain yet an amoeba stays an amoeba for the whole history of evolution?
It still makes no sense.

Because different organisms get different pressures put on them because they are in different environments. Evolutionary adaptation varies according to what pressures are applied. Because the pressures are different, the evolutionary adaptations are different. In addition to different traits being selected by different natural pressures, the speed at which adaptation occurs also depends on particular natural pressures.
This is how the theory of evolution by natural selection explains biodiversity.
