Light Mex A mycelium
    #840275 - 08/24/02 09:40 AM (21 years, 6 months ago)

After two weeks my Mex A jars are about fully colonized but the mycelium is not as thick as myc I have seen before. Is Mex A lighter and slower growing than P Cub or did I mess something up? The temps were at about 77F and I tried soaking rye overnight as well as stepping it. I also called the lawn and garden store where I bought the rye from and made sure there was no extra chimicals. What should I do?

I have raised the temperature and would like to add that the jars have dense white patches scattered throughout the jar and all other areas have a light grey mycelium. You can see the rye grains through it. The grew "myc" doesn't appear to be cobweb only because it doesn't have the height I would usually associate with cobweb mold. Does everything sound alright?

I think my friend's mex a jars have some of the greyish look you're speaking of. She hasn't looked in a few days, but 'm sure she'd like to know what you find out. Anyone know if this is normal?

I don't really know anyone who grows mushrooms. I just come here for fun.
