Hole, I have ~1.5-2 inches of perlite. I guess I should add more. I'll start misting too, but not the cakes directly right? Hippy, I smelled the cakes and they smelled like mushrooms. Nothing funky. Phew-

Hole, I have ~1.5-2 inches of perlite. It's what a FAQ somewhere recommended. I'll add more then? I'll start to mist as well, though I've read that it's a bad idea to mist the cakes directly.
Hippy, when I birthed the cakes smelled of mushrooms.
thanks!

It wouldn't hurt to add some more perlite. Mist the sides of the FC. If you want to mist your cakes, stand back so they just get a very fine mist. Spraying the sides of the FC should bring up your RH quite a bite. Do you have big holes in your FC? If so, you could try putting a little polyfill in the holes. Not to much though, because it will reduce FAE, which is the most important factor, when it comes to getting a good pinset.

Just imagine all the perfectly healthy stuff that would get thrown away from this advice.

No kidding... there's still much debate over it. They can look mostly the same except for one telling characteristic: COBWEB IS GRAY, PEOPLE. PICTURE MEDIUM - DARK GRAY... It's not even close to the WHITE of mycelium.

More news... I finally show my first tiny shrooms growing! How exciting.
However, I find tiny white specs growing on the heads so far.
Is this part of the mycelium?

thanks as always!
