"Crap Circles: Quest for Truth"
    #837546 - 08/23/02 05:50 AM (21 years, 7 months ago)

The new documentary playing at movie houses is about as far a quest for truth as one can get. It is a one-sided repeat of the cereologists chant with almost non-existent counter-point. (Why are truth-seekers so frequently afraid of the truth?) Are the facts closely examined to prove or disprove alien handiwork? Nope. Are there lots of cool circles? Yep.

The bias is clearly seen when the zealots display that fury that anyone could harbor any doubt about the galactic connection. What do we get? Well, lots of diagrams, measurements, and the repeated pointing out of no human footprints. Of course there are no alien footprints either, but let us not cloud the issue.

The actual point of the film seems to be saying: "Let's not trample our mysteries like so much alfalfa." (read let's not examine too closely)

Rating: two bent stalks way down.

At least "Signs" probably has some entertainment value.

What an utterly pointless thread.

Oh, hi Alex. So nice to hear from you again. Say, isn't life swell? I agree, this thread is utterly pointless because... well, it's just not swell. I'm going for a walk in the park today. The park is swell. I'm going to bring my walkman and listen to music by Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix is so swell. Ciao.

Drop in at burger king and find the meaning of life in your reflection in a spoon while you're at it.

That's clearly the most meaningful spiritual experience you can handle.

I sure get good yuks when I read some of these threads!

Swami, if you haven't seen "Waiting for Guffman" I really suggest you do. There's a scene where a scientist is measuring a crop circle. The whole movie has a lot of spoofs on UFO's.

This thread is priceless.

Cheers,

Plastic spoons don't reflect very well.

So you've sought the meaning of life in the back of a spoon too eh swami? Was that even more meaningful for you than seeing the tree melt? Yet you still feel you have sufficient knowledge to lecture us on "spirituality". A man who'se greatest spiritual experience was looking at a spoon? "Like dude, I think I see God in the spoon..."

No wonder every woman you meet finds you loathsome.

I may be misreading your post, but are you saying in order to be "spiritually advanced" or what not, you need to have some super big visions while on shrooms?

Alex, reading your post is like reading "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." (Macbeth Act V, Scene V). Thanks for helping me get the quote right.

"No wonder every woman you meet finds you loathsome. "

Hey, so we're allowed to violate the "Be Nice" policy now? Score!

Hey Alex, you're being a pompous ass.

Obviously you're such a better person for having experienced much wilder spiritual moments.

Every day for me is filled with moments that someone might call "spiritual", but this doesn't mean that I can't rationally think about things. If you look at all of the facts, and approach something rationally, then it becomes pretty clear there is no solid evidence to support the idea that crop circles were made by anyone other than pranksters. Skilled, dedicated pranksters, but pranksters none the less.

Provide me with solid evidence.

Crap circles reappear every seven years.
