Titsfan and weiliiiii, removing some of the mycelium does not significantly impact the organism. As long as he is going to use the mycelium to spawn a patch, it's not a bad thing. Chill.

These don't look much like P. ovoideocystidiata, I don't see any sign of an annulus.

Have you done any microscopy on them?

What an awesome find falcon, they resemble Psilocybe weilii to me, what type of habitat were they found in?
Oh I see now, riparian zones! what was the substrate?

They are not Blue-Foots.
they look like ovoideocystidiata a.k.a False Blue-Foot

The partial veil in ovoideocystidiata is variable, ranging from a thin cortina that leaves a barely perceptible annular zone, to a substantial membrane that leaves a fairly persistent annulus.

come on falcon , we need that key information

And I'm guessing you have no habitat pics
with all this bluefoot excitement around here you would think your post would be golden but others still believe those arnt bluefoots
I myself see some giant bluing monsters , and I'm not seeing anything like ovoids

I myself would love to see your mushrooms ID'd as the rare bluefoot (by a pro of course)
I say send those spores to workman or somebody who knows what the deal is
^ just do it

There isn't even a slight chance those are Bluefoots.
Everyone should read the wiki on the real bluefoot, Psilocybe caerulipes.

These were growing on maple chips mixed with clay soil and rocks.

Fruiting in the spring and in the middle to late fall.

Spores 4-5microm to 9-10microm.

Yep, some have an ring and some don't, mostly the huge ones don't have a ring.

The size of the mushrooms varies a lot from some that are tiny, caps 1/8 and inch across on mature mushrooms and up. This is the largest one I've ever seen, I've seen ones with caps that are wider, but for bulk this is the biggest.

 Might be, ovoids look like this, but it might be a wavy cap that went native.

Me and mustard mans spot produce some fungi like that. I swear the little lanky ones are the most potent. I find them on the river growing in grass/mud/everything else edible to these potent bastards. Nice fugus and its good to see alot of people finding these now. I remember three years ago it was only a handful. Good luck guys and im impressed.
