To start off i live in New Jersey. i looked through the faq to see what mushrooms grow here and found 2 different kinds but, in some posts i saw that these 2 types of mushrooms grow in Nj too, i was wondering if i went hunting for these would i find any, and would they grow on Mulch, or woodchips?

If you went hunting its a 50/50 chance of finding actives unless you have a patch you frequent all the time. Look on the hunting forum right now theres tons of good ovoid info. Peace...oh yeah ovoid would be easier too find than bluefoots.

This thread has been closed.
Reason: Wait... so you looked at the FAQ list? Are you sure?? The FAQ lists 4 species (not 2) of actives that grow in your area. It did not list Ps. caerulipes. So you read in the FAQ that 2 species grow in NJ, BUT then you read that those 2 species grow in NJ in some posts??? Why the "but"?
How in the world could anyone know whether you will find the mushrooms you are looking for or not?? Seriously. You'll have to go look and find out. Maybe you won't, maybe you will.
You're not allowed to ask what habitat mushrooms grow in, but I'll tell you that you need to look in the woods, preferably near streams, for Ps. ovoideocystidiata. They will be growing from wood or wood debri.
Please read the Mushroom Hunting Forum Rules before posting:

3. Do not ask what mushrooms can be found growing in your state or immediate area. This information is easily found in the Mushroom Hunting FAQ and/or has been posted at least once elsewhere on the net. Also see this document: http://www.shroomery.org/8461/Which-mushrooms-grow-wild-in-my-area
6. No asking when or where mushrooms, or a specific mushroom species will grow. This includes, asking what habitat a mushroom[s] can be found- or their preferred fruiting conditions. This can be very simply answered by using the "search posts" feature: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/search.php
