Its most likely not edible in a "don't eat it" kind of way, but definately not active in any kind of way as far as I can tell.

Most likely a reddening Lepiota, Lepiota americana. Not active, not poisonous, and not a reccomended edible.

I was thinking it might be a Lepiota too, but as my books are mainly based on Britain and Europe they don't include Lepiota americana.
