News Link

WWT

Anyone tried this out, or used Google Sky? Which is better in your opinion.

I'll be checking them out in between studying for finals.

Actually, it only works for me in windowed mode, not while it's maximized.  Sometimes the images won't render either

To be fair, it was just released, and in spite of it's origin it's undeniably cool and useful.

Ya, I wrote the title before I heard of Google Sky

But I'd like to hear from someone who has used both as to which is honestly better.  If not, I'll test out Google Sky in a few days when my computer's down with this cycle.

Google stuff works on OSs other than Windows. Microsoft crap only works on Microsoft crap. I wasn't talking about fullscreen versus window.

I was just adding to your argument. I have a hard time calling something crap just because of it's operating system because I'm prudent enough to have multiple OSes.

Well, google sky works on just about any modern browser, but WWT has features that google sky doesn't

The image quality seems to be a little better too.

What you call prudent, I call stupid... spending (unless you are also a thief) money two or three times because Microsoft has a monopoly.

I could very easily have stolen a copy of each, but OSes are a dime a dozen, so I didn't even have to.

Windows Vista is upwards of $450 to $500 if you plan to use virtual machines... not a dime a dozen, at least for my pocket book. Double that price if you plan to add the microsoft office suite of tools... Your dime a dozen OS+office is close to a grand. Must be nice to have so much money you can throw it away...

I usually don't try a new OS until it's a couple years old and I can legally receive a copy with a junk machine.

Honestly, it's mostly just a hobby dating back to when I was interested in programming, but now I either stick to XP or Ubuntu, not because I think they're better, but because they are the main OSes on my two oldest computers, and I simply have too much built on top of them to replace them with something else.

Note: for about a year, I ran an estate liquidation service in Orange County, so was able to come across a lot of computer's legally for free or very cheap. The business had its perks.

Don't worry, Seuss really likes Microsoft. He's just like the kid who teases the girl he's in love with. I think it's like that

Seuss <3 Microsoft
