Last night Joshua and i took some mushrooms and decided to take a journey into the forest. About the time I was grilling pretty hard we walk by a big strip if newly laid lawn, and it was blooming with patches of mushrooms, about three different types. Such a myjestical sight. One type struck Joshuas atttention e thought it looked like Pan. Subb. We took three home look for an ID, it matched pretty well, but we wanted someone which some exeience to officiate it. So are these what we think they are These were the ones that we picked lastnight Here is a shot of the gills This is half of our harvest from today. This half weighed a little over 115g And there is more to come This guy was our main competitor. We would have gotten well over 2x as much as we did If someone could help us it would be very much appreciated. have a nice day.................peace

Those are panaeolina foenisecii or a related Panaeolina. The gills are chocolate brown and the sporepritn will be brown.
Panaeolus subbalteatus has black gills with light white edges and a black spore print.
Here is a picture frm Lizard Kings collectionshowing the gills and the black color fromthe spores.

You are probably correct but i am sure subs have light colored gills at some stage? Definetly hallucinogenic, try em and see......

Yup definetely panaeolinas. Subbs have much darker gills, and most of them have much wider stems.

can you post a pic of the lamellae of the large mature specimen in the lower left of the fourth picture? exept for the gill color they look very much like pan subs but most of the specimens pictured are yung and may not yet have sporulated.

This is Joshua.
I will wager the ID of these specimens as being Pan subbs. If I am correct you will put "Joshua is 'da man" in your sig. If you are correct I will put your words of choice in my sig. The sig will need to be maintained for one week.
I will provide the proof once the offer is accepted. I will make the final ID up to you.
Joshua

I was thinking that you were wrong and that these are Pan subs, but, now that I've looked at the gills again, I believe you're right, they look like Panaeolinas. Like MJ said, pan subs have black to greyish gills lined with a lighter color.
If that spore print turns out jet black, well sheeeit, we be wrong... but if its brown to dark brown... they be Panaeolina.
