Amphetamines.
Or, just go to the library. Find the type of music that best suits you for studying. Drink water. Take a 5-10 minute break every hour to give your mind a rest. Stay away from places with many distractions ie dorms

I dunno, just gotta discipline yourself, really hard... trust me I know. I do really like to slowly drink some alcohol while studying, I enjoy the slight buzz and studying, kinda lets me focus a bit more.

The best advice I can give you is mix up your methods, and repetition...read your book or notes from class and re-write them on note cards. Then study solely from the cards and if something isn't clear, re-read it. If the class you are having trouble in is more quantitative (like a calculus or general chem course), practice doing all sorts of problems out of the book or find some online.
Go into an empty class room and write things you need to know on a white board...works best if it is in the room you will be taking the exam in. Study small amounts at a time rather than trying to cram it all in one or two nights before class. Visit the professor's office hours. If you own a tape recorder, ask permission to record lectures and listen to them during your free time. Make up a mnemonic for memorization tests that help you
Repetition, repetition and more repetition. Good luck!

I always would just take the notes then just reread them/quiz on them 2-3 times and would be good to go. Have not had to study in a long while though. GL

Figure out what's pertinent to the exam, make a study guide, and then read it over as many times as you need to get a feel for what you have to regurgitate, and color code it all.
Take classes that you're interested in, and you won't even need to worry about it.

Read it over, write it down in your own words, try and explain it to someone who has no idea, discuss the subject with fellow class mates, do as many practice tests as possible, once you go through those... make your own questions and test yourself over and over.

Make notecards a week before the exam. Wherever you go, just take some of the cards with you and whenever you have 10 seconds, just start going over them. As you figure out which cards you know really well, take them out and just carry around the ones you don't. Eventually you will know everything on the cards, and you won't have spent that much extra time. If you do this and also read or do problems, you should be fine.
That being said, stay relaxed, make lists of things you need to do/study daily, and just have confidence that you can do well!

I usually cram with Aderall (what I'm doing right now).
I get good grades, but I hardly think this is what you're looking for as far as good study techniques lol.
Wish me luck on my math exam!

Well, you just have to try diffrent things and go with what works for you.
Me, for example. If i made note cards for everything, id fail. Im not a visual learner like that.
If i need to learn that type of material, i will usually write it out repetitively, or type it into an outline on the computer and read it over and over. This is how get through classes with a lot of memorization.
For math, i have a few odd idiosyncrasies. For example, i cant stand to do math with pencils, or on lined paper. I do all my homework in pen on white printer paper. lol, everyone thinks im weired but hey, thats what works for me. When im learning a new section sometimes i don't like paper at all and i will take over a whiteboard in some random classroom.
I find study groups to be very helpful but only in small doses, i need some "me" time to study in order to get the facts straight in my head before i collaborate with others. I usually benefit the most in study groups after i already have a good grasp on the material.
Everyone is different. I know some peeps with weired ass study habits that would NEVER work for me. Whats important is trying new things and going with what is the most efficient for your needs.

A week before a test I go through all my notes and make a self-made exam review, emphasizing all important topics and key points of each.
I then make notecards with any of the information that is notecardable (yes, made up word - but some information can't be put onto a flashcard to study)
Then, i'll make up my own exam based off the exam review i prepared for myself. Then go through and answer all my own questions like, 5 times.
By now i've got all the garbage so engrained in my head - i always get an A

Flashcards.
Follow the lectures, print out lecture materials, and base your flashcards off that, and whatever is on the study guide. If you have 60-80 to learn before an exam, split them up into groups of 15... memorize the first 15, then move on to the next, until you can do all of them shuffled together.
That method helped me get straight a's the last four terms
