Moisture crystal warning.

I have done some looking around for information on water polymer crystals. One bit of info I have found is this:
"When hydrogels degrade, one of the byproducts is acrylamide, a deadly neurotoxin and potential carcinogen. Acrylamide can be absorbed through the skin or by inhaling; people who have a likely risk of exposure to this compound absolutely require safety clothing and dust masks."
More info on acrylamide can be found here: EPA Acrylamide info
MSDS Polyacrylamide: Polyacrylamide
I am worried that heating the things up may speed up the degrading process.

Also, do not eat potatoes cooked any other way than by boiling.
French fries, and potato chips contain acrylamide, and also baked potatoes to a lesser degree.

To clear things up. Polyacrylamide = the crystals that hold like 100+ X's their weight in water. Im not sure if they are in any drying agent or can be used as such.

Yes in small amounts, but potatoes are poisonous to begin with, they're part of the nightshade family and until modern cultivation techniques were prescribed the lowley spud was a poisonous dud, ever watch Good Eats on the food network???

Potatoe plants are still poisonous, the potatoes themselves are not, possibly the peel somewhat if green.
They contain Scopolomine.

Indeed, datura, henbane, belladonna, mandrake, potato, and tobacco are all members of the family Solanaceae. Most of those plants contain amongst other things scopolamine, an anticholinergic tropane alkaloid. They use it nowadays in western medicine to treat motion sickness via transdermal patches. If I remember correctly, the tomato is also part of the Solonaceae family and as a result also had a hard time becoming a popular food.

Oh, my precious alkaloids.
