plug an iron in an let it heat up fully. close the top of the autoclave bag and lay it down flat on some newspaper. make sure the bag is folded into itself neatly but do no fold over the top. get a sheet of paper and fold it over. sandwich the bag between the folded piece of paper (so the bag has paper on both sides at the top). the bag should be about 2inches inside the paper. now iron the paper making sure to keep the iron away from the exposed bag. iron for about 2 mins and let it cool. the paper can now be torn away. it should have sealed about a 1 inch strip at the top of the bag and paper will still be stuck to it.

Good idea I always just fold em over 3 or 4 times and put 3 clothespins on them.

Just fold the top over good. When you autoclave it, it should seal itself by kind of melting together.

Fold the top 3 or 4 times then duct tape good on both sides so it touches it self.. will shrink but you wont get it back apart.

The sell an item called the EURO SEALER at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. It costs around $11 and does the same job as one of those expensive nice jobs.

Private experience using the above method.
Do not use newspaper exclusively, it stains the bags badly.
Follow the above instructions perfectly, (use another sheet of paper)
After fucking up a first bag using only newspaper I used a sheet of blank paper (semidecent copier paper) and it didn't stick at all.
It takes pacience, at first you think the bag has sealed but it hasn't done so properly. You will need the two minutes recommended.
Also, if you let the paper + bag combo cool fully the paper tears away much easier.

Yeah but I sell the bags to quite a few lazy ass friends who can't be bothered to buy all the kit.
It I tie-wire the bags I sell they can then re-use them, defeating commercial interests. (without mentioning the risk of them untieing the bag and messing about.)
I tie-wire my own though.
