Where's the beef, Zahid?
    #825714 - 08/18/02 01:05 PM (21 years, 7 months ago)

Zahid: If you only knew what a believer experiences...

I'd really like to know what a believer experiences. If it would change my views, then aren't you doing yourself a disservice by witholding this information?

Don't tell me about the AFTERLIFE. I want to know why believing (in Islam) is so necessary in THIS LIFE. How does it change my life for the better? I mean, do I start to feel much happier than I feel now (BTW, I'm pretty happy right now)?

I want to know how it applies to this part of my existence. I want to know what to expect in THIS LIFE. I want to know why it is so great to be a believer in THIS LIFE. I want to know everything about it. AND... I want a straight answer with no namecalling, personal attacks, ridicule, sarcasm, and/or so forth.

And can you have it on my desk by Monday?
Thanks.

you didn't answer the question you fucking dimwit. why can't any of these religious people answer a question with anything but propaganda, platitudes, and plenty of gibberish? you can't have a debate by tossing scripture around. stop trying to convince others of your beliefs and start questioning WHY you believe what you believe.

I'm preparing a thread as my good friend Sclorch requested.

I'm going to attempt to describe what happens when you believe.

Why the name calling? This forum has rules.

2.10.
In their hearts is a disease (of doubt and hypocrisy) and All?h has increased their disease. A painful torment is theirs because they used to tell lies.

Is there in reference to believers or nonbelievers? If it's for the former, why would anyone be a believer. If the latter, I've felt none of Allah's presence.

Well, seeing as every human group since the beginning has had some form of God it seems seeking the divine is as much a human need as eating. Denying fundamental needs isn't usually too healthy. Not that you have to follow any "religion" to do this but I think most people find modern life very empty and meaningless and that a genuine spiritual experience would do them the world of good.

Well, seeing as every human group since the beginning has had some form of tribal warfare, it seems that violence and domination is as much a human need as eating. Denying fundamental needs isn't usually too healthy. Not that you have to follow any "religion" to do this but I think most people find modern life very empty and meaningless and that a genuine ass-kicking experience would do them the world of good.

HAHAHAHA Swami I love you... tribal warfare and religion interchangable in the same paragraph.

Actually they havn't. You'll find warfare is a lot more recent than spirituality.

Incidentally, to completly destroy your "point", spirituality seems to be a common need in all humans, most humans do not have a longing for war..

Both you and Swami are making assumptions. However, if we look at the natural world of predators and violence, and the aggressive nature of the human species one would be inclined to give greater weight to tribal or clan warfare predating spirituality.

I don't think so evolving. Studies of early human groupings show tremendous co-operation and sharing between groups. Warfare is a relatively new development. It generally came about after civilisations were formed (which is very recent in the 2 million year human history) and people actually had a reason to fight. Before that most humans were migratory and had little reason to fight.

Yes, the earliest cooperation was necessary to hunt large predators and other competitor such as Cro-Magnon man and Neanderthal man. When they were obliterated, homo-sapiens turned on each other, which continues to this day (even on a spirituality board!).

It generally came about after civilisations were formed ...
That is generally backwards. Civilizations were formed by one tribe conquering and absorbing another, from the Zulu Nation to the Roman Empire.

This is utter half baked nonsense and not worthy of a response. You have seen half a tv programme once and now think you are an expert on what happened to the Neanderthals. Your ignorance is astonishing but, for you, sadly typical.

Civilizations were formed by one tribe conquering and absorbing another, from the Zulu Nation to the Roman Empire.

Again, this is clueless nonsense. The human race is 2 million years old, the romans were around 2000 years ago. Warfare generally began around the time people started producing more food than they could eat and began trading. Before that (the vast majority of human existence) there was little or no reason for war. Please learn a little history before you attempt such idiocy again. Cheers.

So why do you respond?

There is very little recorded history before a few thousand years ago, yet you know what did or did not happen millions of years ago. Please post your references.

Once again your warm spiritual light shines through every post.

I think it deserved a response of pointing out it was half-baked nonsense. (Tho perhaps it wasn't even worthy of that)

There is very little recorded history before a few thousand years ago

Amazing news. Please enlighten us to how we know such detail about how dinosaurs lived (btw they died out 140 million years ago)

So you have no references for your viewpoint on the lack or prehistorical tribal warfare just as I thought.

Once again, please address how we know about dinosaurs lifestyles. They died out 140 million years ago. How can we know about dinosaurs and yet not have any idea about early man's lifestyle? Are you really as stupid as you sound?

I'm afraid the only reference you need is for a good psychotherapist.
