Seriously, apart from most responder's emotional response to them, I want to know how they can be considered "spiritual" instead of a Windows 98-like brain crash?

One could think of them, like any challenge, as a learning process

So could being crippled in a car accident, but nobody thinks of serious bodily trauma as being an inherently sacred experience.

3. The tripper has 'short circuited' normal brain function with unpredictable results.

Is deja vu caused by a short cicuited brain?
What about dreams?

I don't think a short circuit or any kind of trauma is needed to produce these experiences. Maybe it's part of the normal function of the brain, which are magnified under the influence of psychedelics.

"I hate thought loops. I only got them while on acid, and in some dreams. The acid loops were like a kiledescopic thought pattern- one thought about something leads to another about that same thing, than another and another until you end up back where you began and it starts all over again. This is the reason I don't do acid anymore. Besides, mushrooms are so much better in so many ways that there is no reason to do acid when I gots some shrooms.

The loop dreams I had were usually kinda trippy and nothing ment sense, it was just some blank thought into another and another making a visual pattern. That, or I'm at work doing my repetative job- I hate those dreams.

--------------------
What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

1) No. 3, for sure, which could possibly lead to Nos. 1 & 2.
2) I suppose for some, proving a hell must mean there is a heaven (Mathmaticans perhaps?)
For me, just reading this thread means I'll have to wait 2 - 4 weeks before letting my lawyer injest anything that glows.

Swami, could you please explain in precise medical terms what a "short circuit" of the brain is? And how on earth this might be related to "thought loops"?

"Short circuit" has no meaning whatsoever in neurological science and is merely a term beloved of anti-drug campaigners and urban mythmakers. "Like dude, i saw the houselights short circuit once and they went bang and like smoke came out of them, that's what happens to your brain when you trip". The next line from people who say this is usually "And acid stays in your spine for 15 years until you bend over and start tripping again".

Whatever you do don't apply for a job in a neurological dept. I can just see you in a medical emergency rushing to get the doctor

"What is your initial diagnosis Swami?"

"It's his brain, i think it's short-circuited dude"

"Somebody get this fucking idiot out of my hospital"

Calling someone a "fucking idiot" with or without a smiley face violates all the basic rules of this forum and is hardly clever and far from spiritual.

Once again, read the post. I didn't call you a fucking idiot.

Oh diddums you sound upset. I presume all your pathetic insults are ok are they? How about sclorch calling me a "cocksucker" and sending me insults by PM? I didn't hear you whining then.

If you're going to throw insults you're going to have to be man enough to take them back sonny. You're going to learn this simple lesson and I'm going to be your teacher. This will be very spiritually healthy for you. You've been the bully of the board for long enough, now it's time to learn consideration for others.

btw, you made no attempt to explain what a "short circuit" of the brain was and how this produces "thought loops". Please do so or stop your scare-mongering. Thanks.

Yes, it is definately number 4. If anyone has actually had a real thought loop or at least the one that I had, you wouldn't be able to go anywhere or do anything. It is kind of like what zen koans are suppose to do, and when someone meditates on the koan, they eventually realized that they are the creator of all that they experience. I broke through to the other dimension after what seemed like eternity, and reached ego loss and oneness,

Swami...

"So could being crippled in a car accident, but nobody thinks of serious bodily trauma as being an inherently sacred experience."

I don't know the answer to that, but it does not mean you are right to think it isn't. I don't know how your visualizing that event, but it is not the traumatic event that is sacred itself. It is the state of mind you can reach in the NDE or astral projection that you receive after say being hit by a car. You don't have to beleive that to be spiritual, none the less it still exists. and even if it is because of a rush of endorphins or whatever, does not make it have no meaning.

Interesting.

I find it very interesting when a brand new member talks about puppets in their first few posts.

I'm sorry about your location. Sad indeed.

I won't be posting on the anniversary of that day.

Cheers,

Ha ha ha ha he heh heh ho ho ha! Stop it! You are killing me! Stop! Ho ho ha ha he he he! Gee, now why did it not occur to me to get Thor to let me read your private mail?

Now I am guilty for what schlorch said? What kind of conspiratorial fantasy do you have going? Perhaps he took your following words to heart:
