to much moisture
    #836445 - 08/22/02 03:24 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

a friend and myself are currently working on our first grow.

we started off by filling 4 myco bags with a substrate made of cow manure, finch seed and straw. we stirilized it, let them cool then we inoculated 2 bags with Copelandia Cyanescens and the other with pesa we then sealed the bags and placed the bags in dark closet inside a turarium. with a thermometer to make sure the temp is good for colonization. the temp is usually around 80-84 degrees.

now for the problem.

a little over week passed and we've noticed that there was alot of moisture in the bag and there wasn't any growth. so what we thought we might do is take the bags and put them in to the fruiting tray early and hope it would dry out a little. so one night we took the Copelandia bags (being as sterlile as possible) and put them in too the tray and then covered the top in plastic wrap the put on the lid one of the pesa bags started to colonize so we left it go and placed the other one into the tray. then placed them in to the closet.

now it is 2 wks since inoculation and the pesa bag is the only one with growth. then just today we relized ther is still to much moisture in there so we opened a corner and dumped the water out. leaveing the colinizing bag go. there still seems to be a bit too much moisture in that bag. and the other trays havn't grown any.

any info or help would be greatly appreciated veery much thnx

Wish I could. I think I've heard lots of people have trouble with the bags. But you made your own right? was the mix right? should have been fine it water ratio was to spec.
